Movie Review: The Blind Side

On Wednesday night I attended a sneak preview of the new Warner Bros. movie The Blind Side starring Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw. The true story based on the book with the same tittle follows a young Michael Oher from the summer of his junior year of high school until he enrolls in the University of Mississippi. On a side note: how have I not read this book? I am very disappointed in myself, I am better than that. The story follows a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential. Sandra Bullock is absolutely amazing in the lead, and I was very impressed in how she played a strong southern woman, a role I did not think she could do, but she does it magnificently. On a side note gentlemen, she has also aged very nicely. Overall, I was very impressed with this movie and the fact that it did not get to sentimental made it that much better. This is one of the better movies I have seen this year. While, I did not cry, I could easily see my mom crying or some of my female friends. Everyone owes it to themselves to read the book and then go see this movie when it opens November 20th. Just as a side note, the following collegiate football coaches made cameos in the film; Tommy Tuberville, Nick Saban, Phil Fulmer, Ed Orgeron, Houston Nutt, and Lou Holtz.

Movie Trailor

Few more side notes, multiple sweatervests worn by Tim McGraw and Jae Head (who was awesome by the way) only made the movie watching experience that much better. Furthermore, a lot of the high school scenes were shot at The Westminster School in Atlanta, Ga. My side note, The Westminster School maybe have the nicest high school gym that I have ever played basketball in.
